I think that I've finally got both my timeline and my plotline down for
Sunrise, Sunset. I need to do a couple of checks for the beginning and I might change a few tiny little details to make it more consistent with the actual Naruto-verse storyline, but other than that I'm totally good to go. And I now officially feel like a beach blonde, a feeling that I never wanted to feel. Note to self: although you may enjoy saying "totally" this is not a wise thing to do.
Anyway, so SS picks up sometime after Naruto learns his wind jutsu but before Asuma dies and Kakuzu and Hidan attack. This means post time-skip, when Naruto is nearly sixteen. Then the timeline diverges and things change, obviously, because Naruto goes off with Akatsuki. Then I follow the manga timeline pretty closely with everything else, trying to layer it to make it seem as if it's all happening at the same time (like I think that it does in the manga).
As for the plot... well, let's just say I have some suspicions about the Leader. As well as that, I'm working on my novel while I'm writing this, which is highly diplomatic since it deals with royalty and international realtions in a fantasy setting. This means for
Sunrise, Sunset that I'm playing around with politics and it's leaking over. In other words, be prepared for a few twists and turns. Politically, emotionally, and plot-wise as well. I love NaruSasu, but since this is an ItaNaru I have to deal with the pairing that I see as canon. Both Naruto and Sasuke have changed a lot and yet still remained the same. Because of this I need to deal with the leftover emotions both as teammates and whatever they could have become at the same time that I plot the ItaNaru relationship (which is going to be completely equal, by the way.) I will probably not write full-out sex, but I won't just cut off in most parts, either. It'll be complicated, but there you go. Eventually, the relationship will appear. Two more chapters, I think.
And yes, I have a reason why Naruto is stated as more powerful (or at least equal to) Itachi. Kakashi says in the newest parts of the manga that Naruto is more powerful than he is. Kakashi is second only to the Sannin in Konoha. One can argue that Kakashi is even more powerful than Itachi, if Itachi didn’t have the Sharingan, as Kakashi graduated at an even younger age than the “prodigy” Uchiha. Kakashi graduated at five and became a chunin at six. Itachi graduated at age seven and became a chunin at ten. Therefore, Naruto is incredibly good.
