More Progress!
I have achieved further progress, with no snags currently in sight. I have officially passed the 20,000 words mark, thank everything bright and good (and quite a few things that aren't).
I lay on my side and heard something snap, shiver, and shatter; a funhouse mirror broken into seven jagged pieces. Each reflected something different, each like a doorway into a sickening new world. One of the images wavered and was pushed aside until Rue's face reflected in it with a terrible clarity. Her blue eyes filled up the entire piece and I picked it up, feeling the edges cut through my skin. Her breath filled my lungs, her tears against my cheeks, her smile a shade on my lips.
"Hurry..." she whispered through the mirror. "It's time for things to fall apart."
The voices fell over each other, jostling to be heard as they sobbed and laughed all at once and above it all the music, louder than before, and I might have seen a door if I hadn't been blinded by the mirror.
Today's progress (so far): 20,555/42,658. A total of 2,897 in two days after an entire month of no work!
And a small snippet, bearing in mind that nothing is edited yet:
